Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy of Chemical Reactions
Ultrafast laser spectroscopy has extended reaction-dynamic studies into the dcosecond and femtosecond time domain. allowing for experimintal observations of transitory fragments that occur during collision or half-collision. This ability to observe molecular reactions allows real-time viewing of energy redistributions, measurements of state-to-state rates, and tests of microscopic statistical t...
متن کاملSurface Studied with Auger Electron Spectroscopy
We present an Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) study of the adsorption of nitric oxide (NO) on a dean Si(100)2 × 1 surface at 300 and 550 K. Accurate measurements reveal wall resolved fine structure at Auger Si L2.3 w transitions at 62 and 83 eV. These peaks can be attributed to Si-O and Si-N bonds. Furthermore, it is argued that the broadening in the SiLi2,~W Auger transition at 83 eV at 300 ...

متن کاملMechanisms for Laser Control of Chemical Reactions
During the past several years our group has developed and employed a new technique for realistic simulations of the interaction of light with matter. Recent simulations of laser pulses interacting with molecules clearly demonstrate the potential for control of chemical reactions, through various mechanisms which include the following: (i) excitation of electrons to states which have different b...
متن کاملSurface Nano-Structuring by Adsorption and Chemical Reactions
Nano-structuring of the surface caused by adsorption of molecules or atoms and by the reaction of surface atoms with adsorbed species are reviewed from a chemistry viewpoint. Self-assembly of adsorbed species is markedly influenced by weak mutual interactions and the local strain of the surface induced by the adsorption. Nano-structuring taking place on the surface is well explained by the noti...
